This month i-D launched its gleaming new digital flagship known as i-D.co. The newly christened vessel is worthy of praise, not least for its raft of media to read, watch, and look. One such story focused on Lily McMenamy by photographer Tyrone Lebon and stylist Julia Sarr-Jamois, released on 9 November, sends out a bold message of intent for i-D.co. Titled “You Can Never Be Overdressed or Overeducated,” the sprawling editorial takes a maximalist, all-hands-on-deck approach, which plays to Lily’s strength, improvisation with a dash of provocation. Daughter to supermodel Kristen McMenamy, modeling’s in the genes, more so than, say, waiting tables in Paris. “I thought, ‘I guess I can try it, it’s kind of lame to do the same thing as your mum but I can try it, just to see.’” And thankfully she did! Lily’s modeling career to date has been an unqualified success, which her latest outing for i-D.co very clearly evidences.
