There are rewards aplenty in the Spring / Summer 2014 issue of GQ Style Korea for those lucky readers (and the rest of us) situated south of the DMZ running along the 38th parallel on the Korean Peninsula. This season’s biannual is dominated by Next Men and features an editorial with each of Niclas Gillis (pictured), Alec Saint Martin, and David Enrico. The former opens proceedings with a story photographed by Sun Hye Shin called “Death in Venice.” Of course this is no Thomas Mann reboot, different Venice. This story in fact takes Venice Beach as its sunny backdrop for this mostly modern spring menswear story. Mercifully Niclas does not suffer the terminal fate of the story’s title, but all the same instills every frame with enough dramatic import to make this story a page turner no less.
