Joy Bryant can now add fashion designer to her already impressive CV for both acting and modeling. Together with her husband and stuntman David Pope, Joy has launched a womenswear line called Basic Terrain with a Pre-Fall 2014 capsule collection as reported in WWD on Wednesday, 2 April 2014. The very wearable line consisting of cotton pants in two lengths and six washes, however is no vanity collection. “It’s great if because of my exposure and my work, that brings attention to it, because we are making things and we want people to buy them,” explained Joy speaking to WWD. “But I never looked at this like a celebrity line. I think the product speaks for itself.” The clothing’s origins owe as much to David’s handiness with a sewing machine as the couple’s desire to create and improve upon the very clothing they like to wear. When Joy started wearing the pieces, buzz quickly followed. Production began soon thereafter and voila, there is a collection for pre-fall with others already in the works. The sky is the limit for Joy and her Basic Terrain Collection.
