The frontier is everything in the mythology of the American West. In the 20th century automobiles and motor lodges supplanted horseback and cover wagons in a high-octane, industrial reboot of the classic American trope of the western lands. With these changes came a loosening of social mores and a rise in youth culture. These motifs are explored in vivid detail in this month’s issue of Vogue Italia in an editorial by photographer Vincent Peters featuring Brent Weber and Sam Hayes. Shot in and around a dusty motor lodge, this Valentina Serra-styled story flexes with cinematic swagger, the likes of which would make for a smashing evening feature at a period drive-in cinema. Brent looks every bit the leading man and Sam the romantic writer on the road — two seminal figures for how the West was won…in the pages of Italian Vogue.

Camilla Christensen also features in this story.
