“A Jacquemus woman is more someone who is very raw. Someone who can say ‘shut up,’ someone who can spit on the street,” explained designer Simon Porte Jacquemus last fall in an interview with Crane.tv. This playful irreverence comes through in the label he launched at the age of 19 and can be seen in the Spring 2014 issue of Document in a story featuring Lily McMenamy photographed by Alessio Boni. Titled “The World of Jacquemus,” the story credits Lily as both model and stylist, which looks a shrewd use of the her supreme talents. If there is anyone who can both bring the world of Jacquemus to life and say shut up in the same breath, then Lily McMenamy is that woman.
