A black & white portrait, much like any three-chord song will always have a place in an increasingly complex world. A well-lighted subject shot against a neutral backdrop rarely fails to rise above the din of everyday life. In the third issue of the Australian magazine Stonefox, Holly Rose and Bo Don feature in a portrait series by photographer Christopher Ferguson. Titled “Sweet Birds of Youth,” the Ilona Hamer-styled story dispenses with the usual trappings of excess and superfluity that are often associated with the magazine editorial and instead rather wisely focuses on the beauty of the subjects at hand. Holly Rose and Bo Don are pictured wearing minimal attire, a jacket by R13 and a BLK DNM tank respectively. The resulting portraits are exceptional and are a testament to the power of portraiture.
