Ability is not something for which Les Twins are found wanting — identical twin brothers Laurent and Larry Bourgeois possess an embarrassment of riches in this regard. Dance, choreography, athleticism, whatever the category, the pair boast marks no less than 100. A glimpse of the sort of dynamism for which Les Twins are known can be seen in a recent Canal+ short film presented by Yves Saint Laurent. In their element, the pair resemble heavenly bodies undulating in and out of sequence around some unseen center…and yet, Laurent and Larry are but flesh and blood. Back on earth Les Twins can be seen in the May 2014 issue of Vogue Paris photographed by Mario Sorrenti with styling by Emmanuelle Alt. Titled “Backstage,” the story focuses on a dance studio in which Les Twins are joined by Anja Rubik. Despite the inherent stillness of the medium, Les Twins nevertheless jump off the page and give lie to the notion of “backstage” with their movements that are so clearly center stage.
