Along with hearing, vision, taste, and smell, touch is one of the five traditionally recognized senses that humans have in their empirical toolboxes to formulate knowledge of the world. The latter sense is rendered rather elegantly in the Summer 2014 issue of Dazed in a story featuring Binx photographed by Jamie Morgan. Aptly titled “Touch,” this Robbie Spencer-styled story places emphasis on, wait for it, texture. Cable knits, Velcro, even custom-made Hessian trousers, each in their own way train a spotlight on some of the more striking fabric choices from this season. For example, sat before a white rabbit (pictured), Binx wears a puffa jacket by Kenzo and a leather hood by Balenciaga — put simply, plush meets tough. The bunny along with a fractured glass pane, succulent plants, barbed wire, blocks of ice, and more put a fine point on the story’s theme, which in the graceful hands of Binx never succumbs to the pitfalls of sensory overload.
