The blanket prohibition against smiling is temporarily suspended in the August 2014 issue of Vogue Italia in a story featuring Maja Salamon and Dasha Gold photographed by Camilla Åkrans. In fashion it is not entirely true that smiling is, well, frowned upon, it is just that that expression is better handled in categories other than high fashion. Whatever the case, this Ludivine Poiblanc-styled story titled “Just Smile!” puts paid to the notion amusement ought to be found anywhere but a model’s face. One glance at the inviting Max Mara (tutto) story and the reasons are many to smile, whether it be the mohair knits (pictured) or a tweedy overcoats. Not a cool breeze can be felt, which is just as well, teeth ought not chatter, they should just smile.
