The historical register at the Chelsea Hotel boasts no small number of celebrated guests from William S. Burroughs to Bob Dylan to Robert Mapplethorpe. During the years between 1969 and 1970 Patti Smith lived  at the storied address with the latter, which is the basis of her memoir Just Kids (2010) on the subject. The fertile period of the 1970s at the Chelsea Hotel is also the inspiration behind an evocative story appearing  in the September 2014 issue of Vogue Nederland featuring Grace Hartzel. Jewelry figures prominently in this editorial by photographer Boe Marion and stylist Marije Goekoop titled “Chelsea Hotel,” which is at turns both masculine and feminine, but above all rockerly. The styling and mood are further enhanced by the highly saturated lighting, which calls to mind both a staged performance and the 3 AM glow of Manhattan. Whether overnight or indefinitely, this stay at the Chelsea Hotel is made all the more memorable thanks to Grace Hartzel.
