Fashion’s fidelity to autumn is steadfast, forthright, and above all true. How better to bring about the coverage of every available area of the human body with a designer’s wares than lower the planet’s thermostat? With cold comes clothing, with the clothing comes a story in the pages of i-D Pre-Fall 2014 featuring Lily McMenamy, who is photographed* in velvety black and white by Alasdair McLellan. Titled “Hang Out Fall in Love,” this Benjamin Bruno-styled story is all black tights and woolen knits, the stuff that takes the bite out late October mornings. Thick, thick hair by Anthony Turner adds an extra dimension to this story, one which echoes the natural world around it. A bit overgrown at this time of year, the path to autumn can nevertheless be uncovered with some effort or, failing that, Lily McMenamy simply can be followed as she clearly knows the way.
