If standing-room only is an idiom used to describe live events for which audience size exceeds available seating, then the September 2014 issue of Vogue Italia ought well abandon language altogether and describe the enormity of its scale as completely bonkers. Fact is, the audience for this 50th anniversary issue has already filled the theatre, the foyer, the coat room, the marble steps leading to the street, and the surrounding avenues. Metaphors aside, there is an accompanying Alta Moda supplement to capture the wealth of photographs in the issue and its cover bears none other than Ola Rudnicka photographed by Paolo Roversi. Styled by Robbie Spencer, the supplement cover story celebrates Fall 2014 couture and fittingly pictures Ola wearing a look by Chanel. Inside the story Ola wears a further two looks from Atelier Versace and Armani Privé. Roversi’s deft use of light and color create an atmosphere all its own, which could not be more fitting for the occasion and collections in question. Whether from the first row or the café across the street, Ola’s leading roll ought to have the lot of them standing in ovation.
