NEW YORK — Cécile Cassel is no stranger to New York. An abiding memory the French actress and musician (more on that in a bit) has of Gotham is shooting an episode of Sex and City, which curiously enough was shot in New York, but set in Paris at Plaza Athénée. In the episode Cécile played a brooding Parisienne, a veritable one-woman welcoming committee on Carrie Bradshaw’s first visit to the French capital. The memorable performance is likely to still send shivers up the backs of U.S. passport holders contemplating inaugural journeys to the City of Light.
This week Cécile paid a visit to the agency in Soho and sat down to discuss her debut full length record My Name Is. Cécile wrote and produced the record herself, which was released on 30 September 2013 in France under the name HollySiz. Over the summer a video for the infectious dance single “Come Back to Me” was released and has since garnered over 800K views on YouTube. Directed by Hugo Gélin, the video not only showcases Cécile’s tremendous ability as a dancer, but also lays a strong claim to that place in the popular imagination held by the likes of Flashdance and the music of Blondie.
