“I was in a dire situation and music was the only escape for me,” recounts Willy Moon in the Fall 2013 issue of menswear biannual Man About Town. “I knew if I could find a way to make something that I felt interesting and exciting to me, then others might have a similar response.” Over five million YouTube views appear to be confirmation of Willy’s thesis. The 24-year-old Kiwi singer-songwriter, born William George Sinclair, has a bit of a checkered biography, what with truancy, drugs, and the odd bit of arson, but has stormed into his twenties in epic style. That Willy is tall and strikingly handsome means he wears a bespoke suit well, which makes his music videos easy on the eye as his percussive hits are on the ear. His debut album Here’s Willy Moon, released earlier this year, is the culmination of a whirlwind three years and should take him all about town and beyond.
