Pre-fall collections occupy that interstitial moment between the massive ready-to-wear collections that are spring / summer and autumn / winter. That these hyphenated collections are neither one nor the other needn’t diminish their importance, fact is they are brilliant on their own terms as is plain to see in this month’s issue of Interview in a story featuring Kim Peers photographed by Craig McDean. Styled by Karl Templer, this excellent editorial takes the German avant-garde as its point of departure in exploring this year’s pre-fall collections. To that end, the story opens with the iconic Belgian model wearing an elegant Calvin Klein Collection dress. Stark and understated to be sure, but richly colored scarves by Prada are used throughout to great effect. If the mood is somewhat contemplative, then Kim Peers’s very presence on the page injects the story with a smoldering tension that will surely hasten the change in seasons.
