Rhythm underlies song, the veritable coil around which the corpus of music wraps itself. Whether it’s Wagner’s Ring Cycle or a dusty boot-stomping, four-on-the-floor beat, rhythm rules. Caroline de Maigret is no stranger to rhythm let alone fundamentals of rock & roll, all of which are in full evidence in the August 2014 issue of ELLE España in a story by photographer Xavi Gordo. Titled “Tejano & Rock,” the Inmaculada Jiménez-styled story celebrates Caroline’s rockerly ways with denim, leather, and plenty of Chanel. The 10-page story is Caroline through and through, which is to say her personality pierces the page in the same way a distortion pedal transforms a guitar from being a folk instrument into a tool of rebellion. Turn on, tune in, rock out. Take it away, Caroline —
