Enchanted woods have been around for a minute, even long before Dr. Faustus flogged his spiritual rights on the open market of the Black Forest. The woods have been resurgent of late starting with the memorable Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2014 runway and corresponding campaign. More recently the Elisabetta Franchi Fall 2014 campaign also makes use of the ethereal wooded setting to establish the mood. Designers have ruled the forest to date, but in its October 2014 issue Vogue Japan firmly plants the editorial flag in the forest peat with a captivating story featuring Dasha Gold and Bruna Rosa amongst others photographed by Emma Summerton. The Giovanna Battaglia-styled story titled, wait for it, “Into the Woods,” follows the daring cast through the tall trees as they hunt and gather. With the fur, sequins, and dashes of autumn color, there is also tension in the air, the likes of which the spritely Dasha and Bruna are more than equal as they both venture deep into the woods.
