PARIS — Georgia Hilmer rightly grabs the headlines having closed the Viktor & Rolf Spring 2015 show, which also featured Kia LowHedvig Palm, and Maja Salamon. This season Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren moved their ready-to-wear show to the 7th arrondissement after spending several seasons under the tents at the Tuileries, which afforded the Dutch designers a certain malleability in terms of thematic staging. This season, however saw the pair present its collection for spring at the residence of the Dutch ambassador to France, which was built in 1720 by Jean-Baptiste Leroux. The opulent interiors with its grand staircase is just the sort of thing that makes Fashion Week in Paris unique, history simply cannot be rushed no matter how many coats of paint or set changes take place underneath a pitched tent. The dressed-up setting raised the profile of this collection’s billing, but that by no means made it a stuffy affair. A remix of Olivia Newton-John’s “Physical” set the tone of the proceedings for a collection that was light and breezy that included plenty of floral print, jersey dresses, and bicycle shorts (yes, Tour de France continues!).
