Although the laws of physics preclude the possibility of time travel, fashion has never shied from dialing back the decades when circumstances called for something other than today’s special. The latest issue of Numéro Tokyo hearkens back to an age when Aquarius ruled, yes, the 1960s, in an editorial in which Georgia Hilmer is photographed by Catherine Servel. Fresh on the heels of an impressive 40 runway appearances for the Spring 2015 ready-to-wear season, Georgia steps onto the page in a story that celebrates the glittery side of the decade that occasioned the Apollo 11 lunar landing. The color palette is resoundingly earthy with its golds, bronzes, and neutrals, but there is plenty of sparkle, be it a Saint Laurent top in the opening look or the silvery eye by renown makeup artist Peter Gray. If it is time travel that is sought, then travelers are advised to follow Georgia, she is the dramatic lead in this 60’s show.
