Skis in Gstaad. Bikini in Ibiza. Both are obvious, expected even, but neither particularly challenge conventions. This month’s issue of Interview as ever breaks with custom in its treatment of the Resort 2015 collections in a story featuring Grace Hartzel photographed by Gregory Harris. Titled “Off the Wall,” this Elin Svahn-styled story takes place nowhere near white sands and crystal clear waters, but rather in a carpeted room in a residence in an ambiguous state somewhere in between demolition and rehabilitation. Stripped walls provide a sufficiently blank canvas on which to project Resort 2015’s wallpaper print and dazzling geometries from a bygone era, say, the 1960s or 1970s. Marc Jacobs to Miu Miu, this story does not so much tick the requisite boxes as it explodes them with the excellent Grace Hartzel on hand to supply both the fuel and the fire.
