A couple weeks ago on a drizzly Wednesday night in late October scores and scores of admirers of a visiting author quietly queued outside tiny bookshop on Bleecker Street in Manhattan’s West Village. The unseasonably mild temperatures made the occasion less a trial than pretext for elation — a chance to meet Caroline De Maigret. The face of Lancôme touched down in New York for a book signing that night at Bookmarc of her recently published How to Be Parisian Wherever You Are: Love, Style, and Bad Habits and over the span of a couple hours was overwhelmed by the love shown. This love follows Caroline wherever she goes and imbues the many relationships she has with designers and fashion houses. The latest issue of i-D catches up with Caroline at one such house, Chanel. “Chanel’s like a second home. I’ve grown close to the women who work here behind the scenes, as well as the edgier muses who cherish a rock’n’roll culture, like Alice Dellal,” says Caroline speaking with i-D’s Alice Pfeiffer. Caroline is pictured by photographer Sean Thomas wearing clothing from the Chanel Cruise 2015 collection. The secret behind the timelessness of Caroline’s beauty is perhaps best expressed by the woman herself who cautions to “never try to imitate youth, but rather look the best you can at any given age.” Caroline is clearly doing just that and the the world is taking notice.
