There may or may not have been a televised music awards ceremony last night in Los Angeles, but in 2015 despite the near ubiquity of smart devices who can really say? In any event, what is as certain as the dried ink on magazine stock, the Pre-Spring 2015 issue of i-D is in fact the publication’s music issue. i-D gets down to brass tacks for all things music and immediately takes up the halo of glamor that surrounds rock musicians in a story photographed by Theo Wenner featuring Grace Hartzel. In the last year Grace has become nearly synonymous rock chic due in no small part to her campaigns for Saint Laurent. “Music is my very own time machine. It takes me back, present or future, anywhere I want to go,” said Grace speaking to i-D. “Life without music would be equivalent to a world of soulless robots.” This Julia Sarr-Jamois-styled story titled “I’m with the band”  avoids the world of soulless robots and instead celebrates the dazzling side of rock & roll and all the beauty it attracts. Grace brings that very beauty to the page and dials it to 11. The story is brilliant and after 10 pages there is no sight of the band, which is just as well, we came for Grace.
