NEW YORK — The first of 28 days of the Fall / Winter 2015 ready-to-wear season got off to an auspicious start at Coach in Chelsea. Creative director Stuart Vevers presented his collection in three identical shows staged at the Dia Art Foundation at 535 West 22 Street. For the occasion Vevers drew upon a cast that included Grace Hartzel and Binx, both of whom feature in the brand’s Spring 2015 campaign. Authenticity and originality were the bywords for this collection, which included lots of leather and shearling fleece. The tension between luxury and utility was evident throughout the collection and realized to great effect on the runway by Binx and Grace. If the rest of this month of ready-to-wear is as satisfying as the first day, then this season will be a charm.
