NEW YORK — Although programming at the Whitney Museum’s erstwhile home at Madison Avenue at 75 Street concluded in late October of last year, there is life yet to the Marcel Breuer-designed building. That much as in evidence Wednesday night when designers Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCullough pulled off a bit of a coup by staging the runway debut of their Proenza Schouler Fall / Winter 2015 collection. Museum Mile is familiar enough for the pair, what with having opened doors on a Madison Avenue boutique in 2012. This familiarity was borne in a collection that will no doubt having the devoted singing its praises and rightly so. An uncommon thing happened following the show, a majority of attendees downed smartphones and rapturously applauded the designers. On the night Grace Hartzel, Binx, and Hedvig Palm featured on the runway and gave everyone assembled three more reasons to cheer even louder.
