NEW YORK — The gravity of history can be all consuming, which means if it is to be overcome, then extra care must be given. Thursday afternoon at Spring Studios Francisco Costa did not merely overcome history, in this case a tilt toward the 1960s, he pushed it to new ends. Grace Hartzel on the afternoon featured two looks on the runway that like the rest of the collection married earthier elements with technical precision. A patchwork of darkly-shaded suedes and boots that climbed over knees close to the skin were emblematic of this fruitful union so deftly harnessed by the label’s women’s creative director for this collection.
