LONDON — That status of Fashion Week in the British fashion capital is something that is celebrated in a most British manner less through boosterism than it is through a steady, unwavering commitment of participating designers who show compelling collections season after season. This was certainly the case over the last five days and especially true Monday night at Central Saint Martins where Giles Deacon showed his darkly beautiful women’s collection for Fall / Winter 2015 as styled by Katie Grand. The collars were high, the accordion pleats neat as a pin, and the mood was devilishly playful without being camp. Putting an exclamation mark on the collection was none other than Anna Cleveland, who on the night closed the runway show. The assembled audience broke into applause over Anna’s spins and embellishments as she made her way down the runway at a courtly pace. Also featuring in the runway show were Grace Hartzel, Laura Julie, and Esmeralda Seay-Reynolds with her newly jet-black coif, all of whom sported powdered faces and black lipstick by makeup artists Lucia Pieroni and the M∙A∙C Pro Team. A fine week became all the finer when Giles sent his collection down the runway and had Anna Cleveland as its standard bearer. Next stop, Milan…
