MILAN — The Fall 2015 ready-to-wear season got off to an auspicious start for Next in the Italian fashion capital with no fewer than nine models walking for this inaugural women’s collection designed by the recently promoted Alessandro Michele following the departure of Frida Giannini in late January of this year. Disconnection was the byword for Michele’s collection, disconnection and distancing from the contemporary that is. “Those who are truly contemporary are those who neither perfectly coincide with their time nor adapt to its demands,” this quotation from Giorgio Agamben opened the program notes for the collection, thereby setting out Michele’s stall early. The message was clear, this is a new direction for the house, one that champions a more youthful side and all the fearless romanticism that comes with it. On the Wednesday afternoon nine models at Next walked for Gucci at Piazza Oberdan including Hedvig Palm, Grace Simmons, Grace Hartzel, Esmeralda Seay-Reynolds, Ieva Palionyte, Liza Ostanina, Maja Salamon, Karo, and Tessa.
