MILAN — Thursday morning brought sunshine and Fendi. Any burst of warmth during the ready-to-wear season is welcome no matter how distant the snows and frigidity of eight days in New York are. Warmth in the case of Fendi came in the form of panel construction, a bulwark against the elements. Karl Lagerfeld’s collection for Fall / Winter 2015 was given an imposing point of entry into the world courtesy of ingenious revolving columns that were open on one face permitting a model to enter from backstage before the the column swiveled open to the runway. This cleverness was mirrored in the collection, which no matter how much luxurious rigor it could muster still was willing to accommodate floral embellishment of the bird of paradise sort popping out of handbags being carried down the runway. The universe might have given our planet its sun, but on Thursday morning the shine was all Karl’s. On the morning Grace Hartzel, Binx, Yana, Esmeralda Seay-Reynolds, and Yuan Bo Chao all featured in the runway show.
