MILAN — Thursday evening in the Italian fashion capital belonged to Prada, whose berth on the accelerated Milanese schedule season after season invariably consumes those around it. Bit by bit the voices and chatter once filling the air all but vanish until suddenly the enormous room in which you are standing is covered with diamond plate steel and the only garments being worn have been cut from the shears held by Miuccia Prada. Poetic license notwithstanding, this was certainly the case Thursday when seven models at next including Masia, Karo, Hedvig Palm, Marta Placzek, Liza O, Lineisy, and Grace Hartzel all wore looks from the women’s Prada Fall / Winter 2015 collection. So complete is the vision of Miuccia Prada that when the models were lined up backstage and the totality of the of the collection could be apprehended with a sweep of the eyes left to right, the experience felt almost otherworldly. The models were meticulously coifed and made up by Guido and Pat McGrath respectively, the collection’s color palette was a distinctive and provocative shade of pastels, there was simply little else that mattered. Generally speaking this is the case for Prada, but Thursday night it resonated seven times stronger.
