MILAN — “And when force is gone, there’s always mom,” Laurie Anderson intones in “O Superman,” her 1981 classic meditation on love, justice, and technology in the late 20th century. Mom after all is that irreducible figure without whom none of us would be here. This fact was not lost on Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana for their Dolce & Gabbana women’s Fall / Winter 2015 collection Sunday afternoon at the Metropol. Mothers of all kinds, many with babes in arms, graced the runway, much to the applause of those attending the runway show that featured nearly 90 looks plus a finale. In less skilled hands, such a presentation could seem downright treacly, but Domenico and Stefano of masters and approach their work with refreshing earnestness. Their mastery thread and needle was echoed in kind in the beauty profile for the show by Guido Palau and Pat McGrath. On the afternoon 11 models at Next including Grace Hartzel, Hedvig Palm, Blanca Padilla, Esmeralda Seay-Reynolds, Marta Placzek, Agne Konciute, Tako, Yana, Maja Salamon, Giulia Manini, and Ola Rudnicka featured on the runway. Ti voglio bene mamma! Next stop, Paris…
