PARIS — Alexander Wang is said to have mined the house archives for his latest Balenciaga collection with an eye for “society women, the aristocrats, the regal women” once served by Cristóbal Balenciaga and on the evidence of the runway show Friday night he was as good as his word. This was no simple reboot, however as the looks were definitely designed with a 21st century eye. Diamond plate patterning on tweed more or less captured the spirit of Wang’s collection, which was realized on the runway laid out in an imposing cross pattern by a quintet of models at Next including Lineisy, Liza Ostanina, Luka Van Der Veken, Grace Simmons, and Hedvig Palm.
