PARIS — The women’s ready-to-wear season for Fall / Winter 2015 came to a colorful conclusion Wednesday afternoon when Miuccia Prada presented her latest Miu Miu collection. The conversation between nature and artifice that took place in the women’s Prada collection in Milan this season found voice in Paris as well, albeit in a more pronounced way. Bejeweled flowers were plentiful throughout the accessories for the collection, which in total hearkened back to an era of in which then Man sought to best nature through conquering the hydrogen atom. What the collection did for luxurious plasticity, the saccharine-sweet staging replete with a plushly carpeted runway, wallpapered walls, and a soundtrack that drew liberally from Talking Heads scrambled whatever notions of purity surrounding the cult of domesticity remain following decades of feminist thought. The collection was fun, though, and realized to perfection on the runway by Grace Hartzel, Marta Placzek, Lineisy Montero, and Briley Jones amongst others. As valedictory occasions go, few could ask for any as sweet as Miu Miu. That is all from Paris for now, see you again in September.
