Were Proenza Schouler to simply release collections without any creative, then that would be enough. Designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez founded their label over a dozen years ago and have come to occupy a place in high fashion that is at the intersection of artistry and success, which makes the need for anything more than the clothes superfluous. And yet, the label boasts an impressive CV of collaborations over the years that have included filmmaker Harmony Korine amongst others. Today Proenza Schouler brought its creative force to bear on a newly released short film by Harley Weir and Jen Brill starring Binx alongside the likes of Chloë Sevigny and Liv Tyler. The cool girl quotient could not possibly be any higher in Legs Are Not Doors than they already are, but all the same it comes off effortlessly in this specially commissioned work. The project is said to have drawn inspiration from 1990s era documentary TV shows Real Sex and Taxicab Confessions, but the similarities end there and this short film really takes on a life of its own. This is something more, this is cool girls in cool clothes, legs are not doors.
