Suede and leather have long figured as staples of Western wear — durability and ruggedness were simply paramount in the uncolonized West. Although high fashion these days is attainable west of the Mississippi, the echoes of the past continue to reverberate in the collections of today. The May 2015 issue of Vogue Nederland celebrates Western wear in a story featuring Ola Rudnicka photographed by Jan Welters. Titled “Second Skin,” this Marije Goekoop-styled story heads West dressed in this season’s fineries that would be at home in the salons of Paris or the cattle drives of Colorado. Ola as ever provides the soft touch and overwhelming beauty to keep this story driving West in high style.
