Long before avatar became an IMDB entry for director James Cameron it began as word from Hinduism used to describe the physical manifestation of a deity. From this avatar, divine teacher that it is, great wisdom could be learned. Safe to say the word has traveled a bit over the ages and these days more or less refers to a grid of colored pixels that are meant to resemble you, dear Interweb user. Avatar is also a clever title for the latest S Moda cover story featuring none other than Crista Cober photographed by Henrique Gendre. The salient feature of this avatar story is of course the mutability of the Canadian beauty’s hair — short, long, peroxide blonde, black, etc and so on. Styled this way or that by hair stylist Nicolas Eldin, Crista’s hair transforms her from one character to the next, which as a model is not an uncommon daily event. Crista takes it all in stride, however and commands the page with a grace that would make even the gods green with envy.
