The appointment of Alessandro Michele to the creative helm at Gucci was announced in late January of this year and a little over a month later he presented his first women’s ready-to-wear collection for the Italian luxury brand. The collection, runway show, and of course casting were received as a deliberate embrace of what Style.com called “youthful naïveté.” Michele’s embrace of youth has in no way diminshed in the intervening 111 days that have preceded today’s breaking news of the Gucci Fall / Winter 2015 campaign photographed by Glen Luchford featuring Tessa Bruinsma. The Dutch beauty made her runway debut at Gucci in Milan in late February of this year and today stands prominently on the platform of a windswept metro station as a train arrives. Tessa’s hair is caught up in the column of onrushing air, which is so evocatively captured by the British fashion photographer’s lens. Gone is fixity and the encumbrances of a staid luxury. Michele’s Gucci is dynamic, full of movement, defiant, and ever youthful, four qualities along with overwhelmingly beautiful that Tessa herself very clearly embodies.
