The Caribbean island of Aruba was first inhabited over a thousand years ago by the Caquetio people of the northwestern region of what is now Venezuela. The Spanish were the first Europeans to colonize Aruba before it was acquired by the Dutch in 1636 and ever since has remained. For a nation mostly under sea level hemmed in by the Atlantic and the North Sea, two bodies of water not known for white sands and or generally sunny disposition, it is no wonder the Netherlands still covets Aruba. Enter, then Nimue Smit, the Dutch beauty who features on the July / August 2015 cover of Vogue Nederland photographed by Marc de Groot in, wait for it, Aruba. Nimue is pictured wearing studded pink dress from the Philipp Plein Pre-Fall 2015 collection. Everything about this cover says find a beach this hot summer and never leave it and especially not if Nimue is commanding it so beautifully.
