Beauty has an all-new look in the foundational issue of the newly launched biannual Beauty Papers. Cofounders Maxine Leonard and Valerie Wickes came together to create a magazine that brings a different, more expansive voice to the often narrow conversation on beauty in high fashion today. To that end, the inaugural issue pulls no punches and includes a swath of exceptional stories starting with a breathtaking editorial with Crista Cober by photographer Miguel Reveriego and makeup artist Ozzy Salvatierra. For this story Crista plays Persephone, daughter of Zeus, and positively oozes beauty every frame, which the gold finishing merely serves to emphasize. That gold mixture (pictured) is derived from metallic gold and copper powders by Mehron mixed into a paste for hair and metal powder in sunflower gold by Make Up For Ever on skin. If this story is any indication of the voice with which Beauty Papers will sing in the great chorus of beauty, then this publication will forever be on song — adding a Crista Cober solo or two will go a long way in hastening that effort.
