MILAN — It is not just any season that a blonde opens the Dolce & Gabbana runway show and then again Maja Salamon is not just any blonde. Maja knows here way around a runway, is blessed with a quick mind and lithe build of a long-distance runner, and a magnetic charm to turn the heads of two most Italian of Italian designers, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. Maja only learned about her opening the show during the rehearsal Saturday night, which she with met with equal parts surprise and quiet satisfaction. Why not, then?  Sunday afternoon’s Dolce & Gabbana runway show as ever was billed as a joyous occasion, one that came with its own conceit involving a selection of models actually snapping selfies on the catwalk. Maja was the first out on the runway and as she promised, stopped dead in the runway, extended her arm holding her smartphone accessory, and took a selfie, which was then projected on suspended screens framing the sides of the runway. The message was clear, love thyself and especially when sporting the latest looks from the Italian house that is determined to bring joy to high fashion. On the afternoon, Maja was followed on the runway by Giulia Manini, Hedvig Palm, Wangy, Blanca Padilla, Yana Van Ginneken, and Ola Rudnicka.
