Public school in New York has been in session since 9 September 2015, but for the sake of ready-to-wear deep into January, the only public school date that really matters is 27 January 2016 or yesterday to be exact. Late Wednesday night the clothing line Public School by designers Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne went live with its Spring 2016 advertising campaign by photographer Lachlan Bailey featuring amongst others Odette P and Olivia Jansing. The campaign is said to pay tribute to the late photographer Peter Hujar and his work highlighting late night New York of the 1970s and 1980s. The campaign strikes a real tension between vitality and decline by juxtaposing Bailey’s black and white portraits of the collection with color shots of a rusting hulk of a Buick Skylark. Odette and Olivia for their parts come out gleaming, model students they are for Public School.
