NEW YORK — Given the blustery cold conditions Thursday morning in Manhattan, seeking out alternative sources of heat was always going to be a necessity. If the BCBGMAXAZRIA Fall 2016 runway show Thursday morning provided the fuel, then Alanna Arrington and Julia Fleming showered the occasion with enough sparks to make the Skylight at Moynihan Station incandescent. Max and Lubov Azria were said to have looked to the concept of a powerful female performer as their muse for this collection and in particular were well served by new face Alanna who closed the show. Alanna hails from the American Midwest and sports curly hair and has an olive complexion that will remind readers of a certain age of Jennifer Beals in Flashdance (1983). This resemblance surely was not lost on the designers as they set to craft a collection that would later be sent down the runway to a heavily David Bowie sound mix. Alanna for her part did not disappoint either and went a long way to opening the Fall 2016 season on that first day in a truly memorable fashion.
