NEW YORK — On just about any other day membership status would have proven a deciding factor in gaining admission to the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons at 71 West 23 Street in Manhattan, but Thursday afternoon an abiding faith in high fashion and an invitation alone would have sufficed to witness the Creatures of the Wind Fall 2016 runway show therein staged. Designers Shane Gabier and Chris Peters based their collection on what they described as a “concept of soft modernism” with reference to Charles and Ray Eames, Carl Aubock, and Ikko Tanaka. Perfect, then was the maroon-carpeted theater in which Jay Wright, Liza O, and Julia Fleming were to feature. Narrow as this window was for the opulent setting, this trio at Next made the absolute most of it before it would be inevitably handed back to the brotherly order to whom it belonged.
