NEW YORK — Two seasons ago Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez staged their runway show at what by then was already the “old” Whitney, emptied of much of its holdings in preparation for its eventual move to the Meatpacking District. A year on and the award winning designers returned to the Whitney, albeit 5 miles further south at 99 Gansevoort. To be sure this was the first runway show of its kind to be produced at this location, which opened in May 2015, and for the occasion the collection did not disappoint. Seven models at Next including Sandra Schmidt, Lineisy Montero, Katlin Aas, Jay Wright, Vera Van Erp, Nirvana Naves, and Caroline Reagan all featured on the runway. There is but one day on the Fashion Week program to go, but Wednesday night at the new Whitney will surely rank highly amongst them all.
