MILAN — Say “Via Privata Ercole Marelli, 6” to a taxi driver and the person behind the wheel is likely to reply, Bottega Veneta. That storied address combined with its prohibitively early Saturday morning show time (not to mention call time for those on the production side), make this fixture of the Milan Fashion Week an engagement for the faithful. Such is Tomas Maier’s command of the cloth, especially the meticulously knitted variety, that this is one of the most anticipated shows season after season. That status was in no way threatened Saturday morning when a half dozen model at Next amongst a cast of 45 including Ruby Aldridge, Piene Burgers, Nirvana Naves, Binx, Hedvig Palm, and Anna Cleveland walked in the runway show. “It’s all wearable. That’s why we make clothes. It’s not for show, it’s for people. I am always thinking about them, and what works for their lives.” True as those ring in the collection notes, Saturday morning proved to be quite a show indeed.
