MILAN — Sound maestro Michel Gaubert set the tone for the Sportmax Autumn / Winter 2016 runway show almost immediately by cueing up the Omar Souleyman remix of “Crystalline” by Björk. The North African rhythms struck a delicious tension with the Iceland songstress, which duly ushered in a Sportmax collection that drew its influence from the geometries and colors of Morocco. “The Sportmax woman is, as always, strident and dynamic as she confidently paces with the times,” explained the collection notes, which were in turn realized on the runway by five models from across the Next network including Sandra Schmidt, Nirvana Naves, Selena Forrest, Katlin Aas, and Julie Hoomans. “Octagon, polygon / Pipes up an organ / Sonic branches / Murmuring drone / Crystallizing galaxies / Spread out like my fingers,” Björk could not have said it better.
