PARIS — Backstage at the Vionnet Autumn / Winter 2016 runway at L’Oratoire du Louvre, that bulwark of Protestantism dating back to the 1600s, once even demolished, that sits in the shadows of the Louvre, space and ease of movement were found to be wanting, but the connections to history were myriad, and ultimately freeing for Goga Ashkenazi. The Vionnet creative designer is said to have come into a wealth of historical artifacts, some 17,000 individual pieces related to house founder Madame Vionnet. This windfall of historicity was given expression on the runway Wednesday night in a runway show that featured no fewer than 13 models from across the Next network including Anna Cleveland, Ruby Aldridge, Lili Sumner, Tessa Bruinsma, Hedvig Palm, Wangy, Julia Fleming, Liza Ostanina, Vera Van Erp, Lea Issarni, Julie Hoomans, Piene Burgers, and Lina Hoss.
