Geometry, the branch of mathematics dealing with shape, size, and position of forms, dates back to antiquity. Over the millennia Euclid, Descartes, and others have had their say on a field that has confounded many a high school student, but the March 2016 issue of Vogue Italia brings forth another name to the conversation, namely Anna Cleveland. Photographer Sølve Sundsbø and stylist Patti Wilson working in conjunction with 3D visual artist Moritz Kerkmann author a couture story titled simply “It’s All about Shape” in which Anna shatters notions of spatial integrity, continuity, and, well, just about everything else experienced IRL. Anna’s skin (pictured) appears covered in an eggshell finish over gold leaf, which combines to create a truly otherworldly effect. Maybe it has always been about shape as the title suggests, but until now only Anna Cleveland could make the picture this clear.
