Aging rock stars announce small-club warm-up ahead of reunio—wait, no. Readers of the April 2016 issue of Vogue ought to make no mistake about the editorial titled “Welcome to the Jungle” by photographer Mikael Jansson starring Grace Hartzel, because the 14-page story has nothing to do with the 1987 single of the same name by the Los Angeles hair rockers Guns N’ Roses. Styled by Camilla Nickerson, the Frida Kahlo-inspired story was shot amid the surrealist sculptures of Laz Pozas along the eastern slopes of México’s Sierra Gorda mountain range. Magical realism comes to vivid life in every frame, whether it is a monarch butterfly resting on Grace’s brow (pictured) or Mexican spider monkey in her lap. Never mind if Steven Adler will or will not get the nod, because, drumroll, Grace Hartzel is this story’s headlining act.
