“The height of chic today is to dress like a walking work of art,” contends the opening page of the Patrick Demarchelier story running the July 2016 issue of of Vogue. “Become your own masterpiece in one-of-a-kind statements inspired by the creative school of your choice: Cubism, Futurism, Geometric Abstraction—anything, really, but Minimalism.” Enter Lineisy Montero, Dominican beauty who is pictured with an English Whippet slung across her shoulders and wearing a party dress by Dolce Gabbana. To be sure, there is nothing Minimalist about this look pulled straight from the boisterous Dolce finale in late February, which is delightful when paired with a domesticated creature that serves as shorthand for the sort of the press corps attention Lineisy regularly receives. Whether this or any of the other looks in the story would wind up on in the halls of the MoMA or Tate is neither here nor there because in fact the latest issue of Vogue beat them to the punch.
