August in Japan like many other regions in the West is a month for summer holidays. With weather conditions at their hottest and stickiest, time spent indoors cooling out to air conditioning can be occupied with contemplating the fashion of the coming season. Enter Marjan Jonkman, who features in the August 2016 issue of Vogue Japan in a “Pre-Fall Preview” story by photographer Christophe Decarnin and stylist Sissy Vian and is shown wearing a dress from the Gucci Pre-Fall 2016 collection. Deeper into the feature, Marjan is pictured wearing Saint Laurent by Hedi Slimane, a designer and house for whom she made her runway debut as an exclusive as has often been noted and rightly so. As August creeps by slowly in Japan, readers there would do well to take a page out of their nation’s edition of Vogue and march on into autumn along the path blazed by Marjan Jonkman.
